The Vermandois Train operates each month from April to October inclusive, currently running between Saint Quentin and Mézières sur Oise.
Enjoy a trip through the French countryside on a 90 year old train that has been preserved and maintained by our keen volunteers.

Practicalities :

• The train departs from our platform within the Saint Lazare industrial estate signposted as ZI Saint Lazare

• Reservations (highly recommended) may be made through the ‘Destination Saint Quentin’ tourism office, the contact details of which are given below :

  Tickets are available at the CFTV platform on payment of cash or cheque valid in France.

• All young travelers must be accompanied by an adult.

• Our nearly century-old railway vehicles are unfortunately not always suitable for people with joint or mobility difficulties, with our apologies.

• Our animal friends will not be able to travel with you on the train.

• Currently our trains are hauled by diesel locomotives only, pending completion of the overhaul of one of our steam locomotives.

Go back in time on board a 3rd class carriage built in 1929, a so-called "Thunderbox" with wooden seats that was typical of small secondary railway lines ! A travel booklet will be provided.

Comfortably seated in fabric armchairs, enjoy a journey through time aboard a 1st class carriage known as a “ Thunderbox ” from 1929, identical to those found on the secondary railway lines of yesteryear ! A travel booklet will be provided.

While drinking your cup of tea or coffee, sipping a glass of cider or champagne, experience a journey aboard an authentic 1928 dining car, which once formed a part of the great luxury trains of the pre-war era, such as the "Simplon Orient Express" !

• Departures from Saint Quentin at : 13 h 45 (dessert) ; 15 h 45 (snack) ou 17 h 45 (apéritif)
• Duration of trip : 1hour 30 minutes
• Route : Saint Quentin to Mézières sur Oise and back (19 km or 12 miles)
• Included in the trip :
  • Gourmet dessert : gourmet coffee (or tea).
  • Picardy Snack : Glass of farm cider (or organic apple juice) and a slice of artisanal sugar tart ..
  • Belle Époque aperitif : A flute of champagne (or organic apple juice) and salty biscuits.

In the same restaurant car as the previous option, experience a meal with fresh, local produce, such as that which was served on the grand luxury trains of the 1920s to 1950s. A period atmosphere is guaranteed !

• Route : 2 round trips between Saint Quentin and Mézières sur Oise (38 km or 24 miles)

Travel aboard the 1930 "PLM" (Paris, Lyons & Mediterranean Railway) lounge car, which was once used by the SNCF directors ! In addition to 5 1st class sleeping compartments decorated with marquetry, the end of the car has a large panoramic lounge, offering you a unique view of the landscape !
Access to the lounge car can be restricted from two to a maximum of twelve passengers.

• Duration of trip : 1hours 30 minutes
• Route : Saint Quentin to Mézières sur Oise and back (19 km or 12 miles)
• This option includes :
